We made it to Day 0. Transplant day.
We made it to Day 0. Transplant day.
Two days of chemo and three days of full body radiation are now done. These days haven’t been without bumps in the road (nausea, fatigue and some surprise, intense jaw pain), but overall Matt is excited for today and feeling ok.
Here is the plan for today: The donor’s stem cells are being flown from a lab in California and are set to arrive at the hospital by courier at 4 pm. We are told they will start infusing them within an hour of arrival. The actual infusion will take anywhere from an hour to four. Again, we’ve heard the infusion is pretty anticlimactic, yet it means so much to us all.
We feel your love and the power of your prayers. Please keep them coming. Today we pray for the safe arrival of the stem cells and give thanks for our donor. We pray that the infusion of cells will be completely uneventful and that Matthew May’s body would, by God’s grace, welcome them and they would start to make a new home in his body. We pray for the days ahead- as we are prepared for days 1-10 to physically be the most challenging for Matt. As the side effects of all the chemo and radiation continue to hit, as well as the effects of the tranplant- a thousand different things could happen. Please pray for God to limit Matt’s suffering, heal his body completely and hold his sweet heart close.
I will update you all later today. You are a mighty army, #TeamMatt! Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for loving us and pointing us to the love of our Heavenly Father. Join us in thanking God for all his provisions.
Lord we thank you for our faith. Sustain it. Strengthen it. Deepen it. Let it not fail so that you will be glorified as our strength for today and our bright hope for tomorrow. Amen.
