Read This If You're Having A Bad Day

Last Wednesday was a terrible, horrible, awful day.

It all started when my computer crashed, crushing my productivity goals for the day. Normally, I might not get so fussy about this inconvenience, but who has time for downtime this time of year!

At lunchtime, now two hours away from home, the chaos heightened when I reached for my purse only to remember I had left it at home! After digging desperately through the console, looking under the seat and anywhere else where change might be hiding, it became evident that there would be no lunch.

By 5 p.m., I was hangry and excited to meet my friend who graciously agreed to buy me dinner. But that’s when things really got interesting. Less than a mile from the restaurant, a man ran a 4-way stop and plowed right into me. I was fine but my car was not. After an hour wait, the police and the tow truck finally arrived.

By the time I finally got some food and crawled into bed at my hotel room in Kansas City, I was happy to mindlessly scroll through Facebook. And there HE was. As a part of a promotion for the oncology center where Matt received cancer, Matt was staring at me with that sweet smile with these words about staying positive in the face of adversity.

It was just the attitude adjustment I needed. The events of the day were really nothing more than inconveniences. It was a broken computer and a car wreck, not cancer. It was one lunch, not a lifetime of wondering where my next meal would come from.

We all will face hardships. Some of you are facing difficult ones right now. In the midst of those challenges, I hope this message will be an encouragement to your soul.
