Do You Have A Healthy Relationship With Your Phone?

Let’s get personal for a minute, can we?

I have a problem and it is negatively impacting my ability to complete a task, to drive safely and to love my family to the best of my ability. I have let a good thing have more power and influence in my life than it should - allowing it to become an ultimate thing. This thing is my phone.

A recent sermon from @TheCrossingComo has had my head spinning. It brilliantly tied the new technology of brick building in Genesis 11 to the constantly evolving technology of our day. Like all technological advances, smart phones promised to make our lives better. They were supposed to make us more organized, connected and efficient - FREEING up our lives to enjoy doing the things we love with the people we love.

For many of us, freedom might be the last thing our smartphones have given us.

In this week’s episode of The Problem With Perfect, we are giving you a free quiz to determine if we have what psychologists would consider an addiction to our smartphones. How did we get here? How have smartphones come to infiltrate every area our life, our work and our relationships? How have they shaped our interaction with the world around us, including the person on the road with you, the person in the elevator and the person lying beside you in bed?

If this struggle resonates with you and you want to be more God-honoring with your phone, then challenge yourself to listen to the end and try at least a few tips to reduce your screen time and reclaim your life. You'll be "smarter" for it. God has a better yes for us than touching our smartphones 2,600 times a day. (Yep, that’s what research says… startling, isn’t it?)

As always, please share this episode with someone who could benefit from hearing it - which shouldn’t be hard because it is such a common, but serious struggle. AND - if you have any tips for using your smart phones wisely, PLEASE SHARE them in the comments! Let’s get this conversation started.
